As a decorating and DIY blogger, I try to keep my ideas fresh. Even if I put something particularly trendy in my home, I try to give it my own little Lindsay spin.
But sometimes, I see something that I love so much that I don’t care that it’s been done a million times. For instance, take these adorable mason jar snow globes from Anthropologie.
Oh, they are just so dang cute! And start at $28 a piece for the small ones. And have been knocked off on dozens of blogs over the last few years.
I decided that this was the year that I was going to have my own repurposed jar snow globes. I started collecting jars (and bought a few more), knowing that I couldn’t just do one or two. So, I made 21. I always have a hard time knowing when to stop.
I bought a package of 21 different sized bottle brush Christmas trees from Home Depot for just $7 (it was with the snow village stuff). They have these trees at Dollar Tree, too, but the Home Depot package was a better deal. I spray painted the lids of the jars silver and hot glued one tree inside each jar. Zack and Emma helped me add Epsom Salt in some jars and fake, plastic snow in others.
I tied red and white twine (from the gift wrap/party department at Target) around the top of each jar. I also printed and used my Silhouette to cut gift tags to put on a few of them. If you have a Silhouette machine and would like to use these tags I designed, you can download the .studio file here (it will download immediately).
I displayed all 21 jars on my antique sideboard and stuck some white Christmas lights behind them. I now have my own little Winter Wonderland that doesn’t have to come down as soon as Christmas is over – I think they’ll make it through January!
I kind of like them right side up instead of upside down like Anthropologie features them.
How about you? Is there anything that you feel like has been done to death that you just have to have in your home?
They are simple and beautiful and I love them! A great idea to put them in front of the lights, too…
I was looking at bottle brush trees in my dollar store last week, wondering what to do with them..maybe now i know!
Thanks for sharing….♥
I too save/recycle glass bottles… this idea is simple, afforable and so refreshing for the holidays-thankx :-). Rock salt could possibly make a nice snow filler too.
Again, awesome! Hope you have a great december. 🙂
What a great idea! My kids would absolutely love this!
I love those Linds! I will be sharing them on Knock Off Decor.
These are great!!! I want to make some!!! I’d love for you to share them at my Twirl & Take a Bow party at http://www.houseontheway.com. They are the best knock offs I’ve seen!

This is so pretty and festive and you’re right…it would be a shame to take these down right after the holidays! But I would dearly love to see a picture of the whole sideboard with them all displayed….hint, hint 🙂
Love this!! Gives me an idea for our store entry table. I like decorating for winter, not Xmas………….now if only it actually felt like winter in central Texas!!!
Just saw these on Knock Off Decor. Beautiful! I feel like I have seen this project before but the results weren’t nearly as stunning as yours. AND, I think your display is even more beautiful than the Anthro original!
I LOVE your version much better than the Anthro version. Too cute!! I love the little red and white twine at the top.
You gave me an idea! I’m going to make some in tiny antique salt shakers for my grandkids! Covering up the holes, of course!
Beautiful job! I’d also love to see the whole sideboard display. It must be stunning!
I love them. I plan on making some today but I think I will just use putty on the bottom so that they will be easily removeable later in case I need the jars for jam, or will the hot glue come off easily?
Ia that a salt and pepper shaker? Genius! Love the silver painted lids and the red and white string. You rock on these!
Thanks for the tags- but they don’t work because I don’t have the font you used. What font is it?
Thanks!
I had the best time making the snow globes! I added some glitter on the trees and a small figurine, they came out great. I am going back to the store to get some more trees! Keep up the great work! Happy Holidays.
I have a bunch of assorted glass jars and can’t wait to copy you! I also think I might put some of my miniature nativities in some! Tks!
I tried to make one, but the tree turned the water green. Did you add water or no?
I think it’s a perfect present for my teacher (I am in 6th grade) it’s realy easy and cheep for my parents
Have great mason jars
