How to Refresh Your Bedroom with Discount Bedding

It’s been a few years since I finished the redesign of our master bedroom.  In all that time, I can honestly stay that I’m not tired of the gray, or the chevron walls or the bright yellow dresser.  In fact, I still love all of those things as much as I did the day I finished the room.

But much like the playroom, I decided that the bedroom needed a little refreshing.  Instead of focusing on the accessories as in the playroom, I focused on the bedding.  I’m sure that you’d agree that the bedding makes the biggest impact in a bedroom.  I didn’t want to spend a lot of money on new bedding, though, so I hit up some of my favorite stores for a few new items.

I made trips to some of my favorite shopping spots for discount bedding and linens – Marshall’s, Target, TJ Maxx, HomeGoods, and Tuesday Morning.  I don’t like my bedding to be a “set,” so shopping the different stores gives me a good chance to do some mixing and matching.  It was also important to me to keep my color scheme similar to what I had before so that I wouldn’t need to change anything else in the room.

I started with a new set of gray sheets that I found at Tuesday Morning, which is my favorite place to buy bedding because you can find great quality for amazing prices.  I topped that with a teal organic blanket that I had been eyeing at Target – there is a 25% off Threshold bedding coupon on Cartwheel (expires 2/1/2014) which made it $36 for a king size, so this was the time for me to finally pick it up. Then, I added three white Euro pillow covers that I found at Tuesday Morning (they are DKNY and were on clearance for an additional 20% off) stuffed with down Euro inserts (also TM).  The two gray Ikat pillows are from Target.  I topped that off with the teal pillow (Etsy) and the white ruched duvet (Target) that were part of the original design.

I am thrilled with my new bedding and actually like the end result better than the original.  It feels much more put together.  My husband, Tom, thinks it looks more masculine, and he loves it, too.  I call this a win for style and for my bank account!

Where’s your favorite place to pick up discount bedding?  Is there something in particular that you are looking for right now?

Everything looks beautiful! I honestly never thought about bedding at Tuesday Morning ~ crazy, huh? I rarely go there but that will change. 🙂 I really love Target and Stein Mart. I have a difficult time with bedding…seems I want to change things often so I must look for decent prices to add something. Thanks for sharing!

Out of curiosity, how much did you total for the refresh? Or if you wouldn’t mind sharing prices of your Tuesday Morning items?

Sure thing! I’m just working on memory here (which might fail me), but I think that the Euro pillows I got at TM were about $25 a piece. The Euro covers were on clearance for around $19 each, I think? The gray sheets were $30 for a king sized set?

Love it and the colors! Where did you get your bed? I have been eyeing one at IKEA and it looks similar.

Where’s the DIY for the layered frame wall? I need something for under a shelf in my daughter’s room and that may just do the trick.
