Garage Groans

by Lindsay Ballard on May 15, 2009 10 Comments

Have I shown you my dining room before? I sure hope so, because this is what it looks like right now.

The builder is resurfacing our garage floor since the epoxy flooring they originally applied is peeling. Thus, we had to take everything off the floor of our garage and move it to – you guessed it – the dining room. I guess it’s not a ton of stuff because we are “you have to be able to park both cars in the garage” people and there are some things on wall shelves, but it still wasn’t fun to have to move it all out.

Twice.

That’s right. Twice. We did this a few weeks ago the first time they tried to repaint the epoxy. Then, not three or four days after we were allowed to park in the garage again, the paint started peeling. Believe me when I say you didn’t want to be the builders’ rep on the other end of the line when I made that phone call. Lindsay has a wee bit of a temper. Ahh, the joys of living with Lindsay.

This go round, they scraped the epoxy off the floor and totally resurfaced the concrete. They started the process on Monday (so we moved everything out on Sunday) and we can’t move it back in until Saturday.

Oh, and when I say “we,” I mean my husband. I’ll be out of town celebrating my sister’s Bachelorette Weekend, so he’ll have to go it alone. Poor Tom. He always gets stuck with this type of job.

Have a great weekend everyone! And Tom? Be sure you do something more fun than moving the garage. It’s not that often that you have the house to yourself!

Let us know how it goes. I’ve been afraid to try it on an older concrete surface. And congrats to your sister. Mine is getting married in about 2 months.

I would be doing a DANCE if I didn’t have to help move the garage. Here’s to hoping that it all works out though this time.

I am laughing because your photo totally sends me back in time to our remodel when we had to move everything into the garage, out of the garage into the house, then back to the garage then back into the house. My space looked just like yours. Thanks for the funny photo and time travel moment. 🙂

Oh gawd I could NOT function thinking my entire garage is in my living room. I get twitchy when stuff from one room is in another room. I’m hardwired to return said object to it’s proper location or I can’t breathe without getting the hiccups.

    Love your blog btw!!

Umm.. You are a wonderful woman to have her entire garage in the dining room. I hate to think if I had to put my garage in my dining room.

    But the picture is funny!!!

Oh my! It is hard when things are topsy turvy. I have 2 freezers in my laundry room right now. Emergency freezer purchase Sat. and the actual laundry is in my dining room. Hope they get it right this time. Jackie
