This morning, I woke up to the news in my Facebook feed that Donald Featherstone, the creator of the plastic pink flamingo, passed away on Monday. He created the iconic, kitschy flamingos back in 1957 when he worked for Union Products (also makers of many of my beloved blow molds).
I thought it only fitting that I share with you a project that I created just last week – easy, kitschy, fun outdoor pink flamingo planters.
There’s a story behind our new yard ornaments and the full tutorial is up today over on the My Colortopia blog.
God Speed, Mr. Featherstone. Thanks for bringing some fun to our lives!
I’m so glad you did this with the imitation flamingos! I wouldn’t dare cut into my “true” Featherstone ones for anything!
