How to Fill Water Balloons Without a Water Hose

by Lindsay Ballard on May 28, 2015 5,815 Comments

We only have a few days left of the school year, which means my kids are getting really excited about the summer.  Even though we have torrential rains and deadly flooding around here (the streets surrounding our neighborhood were literally under feet of water a few days ago), the kids can’t think about anything other than swimming pools, water slides and water balloon fights.

Water balloons.  The words that make me feel like the meanest mom on the planet.  I hate them.  It’s not the water that drives me crazy, but it’s the little bit of balloon that no one else picks up out of the yard but me.  But, the kids love them, so I’m stuck picking up balloon pieces all summer long. #partofthejob

How to Fill Water Balloons Without a Water Hose

One of the biggest problems with water balloons is wanting to use them at locations that don’t have running water or a garden hose – like at a birthday party at the park.  You could fill the balloons and put them in a bucket before you left the house, but I always manage to pop several of them in my car.  I’ve been looking for a good solution, and I think I found it!

HomeRight sent me one of their 1-gallon Deck Pro Tank Sprayers.  It’s meant to use to spray pesticides, deck cleaners, and semi-transparent stains.  But, it works perfectly as a portable water balloon filler!

Simply fill the tank with water before you leave home.  When you are ready to fill the balloons, you prime the sprayer by pumping it with the handle on the top.  Then, you can slip the water balloon over the nozzle and depress the trigger to fill the balloon.

Handmade Note Cards for Teacher Appreciation Week

Teacher Appreciation Week is next week!  Are you ready to celebrate the amazing teachers in your life?

Every year, I try to think of something fun and different to do for my kids’ teachers.  We are lucky to attend a fabulous school, and we are so thankful for the loving teachers that we have had throughout the years.

This year, I created embossed, handmade note cards for each teacher.  I thought these would be great for them to keep in their desks to use if a co-worker had a birthday or if they wanted to send a thank you note to someone.

Aren’t they fun?  They were really easy to put together, too.  And, you can customize them anyway you want to.  Here’s how I did it:
