My Christmas House Tour 2013: The Front Porch Edition

Welcome to the second half of the My Awesome Christmas Home Tour!  We’ve already taken a look at the vintage inspired interior decorations – complete with a vintage aluminum tree, an old Santa cookie jar turned tree stand, and garlands galore.  Now, let’s see what I’ve done on the outside, shall we?  And welcome to those of you joining me from Dwellings by DeVore on the White Buffalo Styling Co Blogger Stylin’ Christmas Home Tour!

I had grand illusions of lights strung along our two story rooflines, wreaths on every window and garlands for miles.  But, because I had some professional painters come in to help me paint some 3o foot vaulted ceilings in our home, that was just a pipe dream.  I’ve spent the better part of this week with scaffolding and extension poles being staged on my front porch, so I’m glad that I kept my outdoor decor to simple and easily moveable pieces.

My 2013 Christmas House Tour

Welcome to my 2013 Christmas House Tour!  It’s time to see how I decked the halls, Makely-style.  For those of you just joining me from my good friend Roeshel at The DIY Showoff as part of the Holiday Housewalk, my style is generally an eclectic mix of mid-century modern and industrial, with bold colors and some quirky touches.  But above all else, it is fun – which is the #1 requirement for any decorating piece that comes into my house.

This year, I had a bit of a decorating challenge.  My big 2013 project – the de-beiging of my open floor plan living area – comes to a head next week when painters and scaffolding arrive at my house.  I didn’t want to have to move a lot of Christmas decorations out of the way when they painted, so I had to be strategic about where I placed the decor.

But no worries, it all worked out and I’m just thrilled with the way my home looks right now – so happy that this post is extremely picture heavy so I could show it all to you!
