A Few Minutes of Fame

by Lindsay Ballard on August 9, 2012 48 Comments

I don’t know how to put this, but I’m kind of a big deal.  People know me.  I have many leather bound books and my apartment smells of rich mahogany.  -Ron Burgundy

Okay, not really.  I don’t have any leather bound books, I don’t live in an apartment, and I don’t have any mahogany furniture.  But, I do have my picture in the September 2012 issue of House Beautiful.  And on the second page of the Color issue, nonetheless!

Isn’t that so cool?  You can even lift up a little flap under under my face to read a notable quotable about my color inspirations.

I may have bought five copies for myself.  When Zack asked why, I replied, “So you can have one when you get married.”  Obviously I was joking, but he thought that was a very reasonable response.  I honestly don’t know why I bought so many copies, but I just felt like I should.

And if that wasn’t one of the most exciting things to happen, Glidden has released the second of the videos that the amazing video crew came to our house to shoot.  This one features me talking about where I find inspiration, visiting some of my favorite places around Austin, and me just being goofy with my kids.  The first video, where I talk about finding inspiration for decorating your nursery, can be found here.

It’s less than 2 minutes long, and I’d love if you’d take a little time and check it out.  It was so fun to work on, and they did a great job showcasing my true personality.

Thanks for being here and supporting me and this blog, you guys!  I’ve got some big things coming in the next few months, so hang on for the wild ride!

    Hi Lindsay,
Congratulations, so well deserved!!! I’ve been a follower of yours for a few months now and I’m so happy I found you! Your mind’s eye, as in your God-given talent is amazing. You’ve been an inspiration since the first blog I read. So much so I am itching to start my own project. I have an antique chest of drawers and vanity that my late father had gifted years ago. They are structurally beautiful but nicked and banged up over the years. I’m thinking of leafing or painting them, I’m just not sure of the color scheme of my room yet. I’d like to make an attempt at coordinating the colors and fabric. However, I may throw up the white flag and reach out to you for help!
Thanks again for a tremendous blog, I love it!

    Hi Lindsay,
I just got my House Beautiful, saw you on second page with the Colortopia Team and immediately went to your blog. I love the fabric you have on the opposite side of your comment about your favorite color. Can you tell me the name of that fabric and who makes it? I have now read your blog and have added it to my favorites. I love your blog – you have great taste and ideas. I know I will be reading you all the time now and definately will use your brillant ideas!
    Thanks,
    Janet

      Hi Janet,

I am so glad you found me. How fun!

The pillows in the picture are a pair I found at Z Gallerie. But, I just did some detective work and tracked down the fabric for you. It’s by Waverly and is called Solar Flair in the Onyx/Lilac colorway.

Here’s a link to an online shop that sells the fabric. I didn’t search for the best price, so you may want to do a little more searching to see if you can find it cheaper. http://www.housefabric.com/Solar-Flair-Onyx-Lilac-P4100.aspx

I hope that helps. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on future projects. Welcome!
