Anatomy of a Simple Fall Tablescape

Fall Table Styling

I absolutely love fall entertaining.  And better than that, I love SIMPLE fall entertaining.

You can create a beautiful table in just a few simple steps.

A pretty backdrop can do so much for your fall tablescape.  So, I started by throwing this family quilt over the table.

step1

I turned it so that each corner went off of one side of the table.  It wasn’t quite big enough to be a full tablecloth and this looks purposeful.

step2

After getting your backdrop, you want to create your centerpiece.

Nothing says fall to me like candles and pumpkins, so I decided to stick with those two elements for a simple, but colorful centerpiece.

I started by placing a large candelabra in the center and two individual candlesticks on the end.

step3

I love for my centerpieces to look collected and not symmetrical.  To begin, I chose four large pumpkins and put them in place.

step4

Once you have your large pumpkins in as a base, I filled in with smaller pumpkins in various shapes and colors.

step5

step6

Mix up your colors, putting white with orange and vice versa.  Lean some pumpkins on their sides, stack some, and don’t worry about it being “even.”  This will create a prettier, but casual centerpiece.

step7

After my centerpiece was in place, I added the place settings.  I stuck with very simple elements.

I used two different white plates layered, white napkins with natural napkin rings, gold silverware for a little pop, and a mix of colored vintage glassware.

I love the personality that just adding a mix of glassware can add to the table!

To take the plain white napkins up a notch, I rolled them and enclosed them in grapevine napkin rings from Hobby Lobby.

Fall Napkin Rings

I stuck a feather and a cinnamon stick through the napkin ring for a natural touch of fall.

Now, we’re ready for an outdoor fall dinner party!
