There aren’t many more days left in the year before Texas again starts to resemble the surface of the sun. Now, when I was a kid living here, I really don’t remember it being so hot that I felt like I was melting. I mean, I feel like that now, but I don’t think I felt like that then.
But not my kids. They take after Tom, who is really bothered by “the day star” as he calls it (think about it). I’m sure he also thinks that he also wasn’t affected by heat when he was a kid, but I’m gonna play the “Yeah, but you didn’t grow up in Texas” card. But, our kids are growing up here, and it doesn’t take too long before they are red faced, whiny and ready to come inside. We’re talking like 10 minutes, y’all.
This year, we have a new little tool in our summer arsenal – a misting fan. It’s totally going to be easier for us to cool off while we are chillin’ out! Corny? Yep…but totally true.
Y’all, this isn’t just any misting fan – it’s the 18v Bucket Top Mister from Arctic Cove (available at Home Depot). This mister is quite possibly the end all, be all misting fan in the history of the world. That sounds overly dramatic, but it’s pretty amazing. In fact, there are 3 reasons why it’s going to rock our summer.
It’s Battery Operated
Yep, a battery operated fan. And this isn’t just any battery – it’s a lightweight, rechargeable lithium-ion battery that runs for about 2 hours on one charge. That means that you can take this with you to the park or even camping this summer.
Another cool thing is that because this mister is made by the same company that makes Ryobi tools, it runs off of the RYOBI ONE+ batteries. Although this battery and a small charger comes in the box, you can use the same battery with your drill, jigsaw or nailer.
It Fits on a Five Gallon Bucket
Okay, this is ingenious. To make the misting fan even more portable, you can pump the mist by sitting it on top of a water-filled 5 gallon bucket.
This is my favorite feature! Emma loves having me set it up so that she can swing through it or slide through it. We can easily bring it around the front of our house to use during our Sunday night neighbor BBQs without having to drag our hose around from the side of the house. I think our neighborhood crew may end up using this every day.
It Can Be Used With a Water Hose
Don’t have a bucket? No problem! This misting fan can be used in the traditional way, too. Place it on a flat surface, hook it up to a water hose, and let ‘er rip.
You can even run it with just the fan (2 different speeds) and no mist and tilt the head of the fan to blow/spray in the perfect direction.
I think we might actually be able to survive our Texas summer with this misting fan in tow. But the question is: Can I survive the last 5 days until school is out? Yeah, the jury is still out on that one. Why is this always the busiest time of the year?
This post is sponsored by Arctic Cove. I was sent a 18v Bucket Top Mister in exchange for a review. In all honestly, we were about to buy one ourselves at Home Depot anyway.
OMG I think I’m going to have to get me one of these bad boys!!! I have some gardening work to do and this would help me stay cool while I’m working. I also love sitting outside after I get home from work. Thanks for the post. Kim in Round Rock.
That’s nice, but it would never last over here. My boys would have torn it up before I even had a chance to feel the cool mist.
|Bought one and it only last about 6 hours and then died.
Piece of trash.
