Move Over, Oprah.

by Lindsay Ballard on September 5, 2013 8 Comments

There’s few things I like better than cracking open a brand new can of paint.  The anticipation, the smell, the promise.  I’m excited for a room redo just thinking about it!

But last year, I was thrown into something that I think I like just as much as paint – being in front of a video camera.  Never in a million years did I ever think that would be something that I enjoyed.  A camera crew came to my home to shoot a few promotional videos for Glidden, and I was on a high for months on end.

Well, y’all.  Back in June I had the opportunity to do it all again.  Move over, Oprah.

front of cameras

I went out to Boston to shoot a series of short “Show Me How” videos for Glidden.  The videos feature paint tips and tricks, from cutting in without using painters tape to the proper clean up of your tools.  First, let me just say that Boston was Ah-Maz-Ing.  It was my first time to go up there, and I can’t wait to go back when I have more time to explore.

Second, my second experience in front of the camera was even better than my first time, if that’s even possible.  We shot over two days in a few homes in the Boston area.  This was a much larger production than the videos shot at my house last year.  Instead of just a three member crew, there must have been four or five crew members, the director, the producer, representatives from Glidden’s PR firm and representatives from Glidden’s corporate – all of whom I LOVED.  I was so thankful to work with such great people who made me feel so comfortable!

I spent two glorious days demonstrating painting techniques and hosting the series.  It was so much fun!  I still pinch myself every time I think about it.

Below are the final videos that were produced for Glidden!  They are only about 30 seconds long – I’d love for you to take a peek and let me know what you think!

When I started this journey of Stay at Home Mom turned blogger, I couldn’t have imagined that I’d ever find myself in front of a camera on a professional video shoot.  Life certainly has a way of throwing in some awesome moments, doesn’t it?

Thank you so much for your support of my blog.  You being here allows me to do things like this.  You honestly have no idea how much it means to me when you stop by and take a look into my life and my home.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

These are awesome Lindsay! You have a beautiful voice for these. It sounds really good in the videos.

Glidden did a great job partnering with you because I’m two days away from painting my kitchen so I’ll be using these techniques immediately.

Way to go! I hope you get more of these gigs since you enjoy them so much and you’re GOOD at it!
