How to Clean Dried Sap off of a Christmas Tree Stand

by Lindsay Ballard on November 30, 2015 14 Comments

On Friday, I climbed into our attic and pulled out the massive amount of Christmas decorations that were in there. Y’all, we have WAY too much.  So, I started sorting into different piles – Keep, Give Away, Trash.

When I pulled out our live Christmas Tree stand, I was sort of ashamed of myself.  I didn’t do a great job cleaning it up last year, and there was sap on the bolts and in the bottom of the stand.

It’s not disgusting because I had wiped it down a little bit before I put it away last year, but I wanted to see if I could clean it up a little bit – I bet the new tree would prefer to not have it’s sap co-mingled with the old tree, right?  So, I pulled out my HomeRight Steam Machine Plus (affiliate link) steam mop and took out the handheld unit.

I steamed each bolt for about 15 or 20 seconds, working one at a time.

Then, I quickly wiped off the loosened sap with a microfiber cloth.

It worked great!

I did the same thing to the bottom of the stand, and it worked great as well.  The metal plate in the center is rusty – that’s not tree sap.

I love that it was so easy to clean this up after it had been sitting in the attic all year.

HomeRight is giving away one of their awesome Steam Machine Plus Multi-Purpose steam mops to one of my readers – wouldn’t that be perfect for cleaning up all of those holiday messes?  Simply fill out the Rafflecopter box below to be entered to win!

We have an older dog who doesn’t always make it outside…and three kids who are constantly playing on the floor. This combo definitely needs a steam mop!!

This looks like the perfect tool for my little family. The combo of 4 indoor pets (cat, dog, 2 rabbits) plus laminate floors plus long working hours for myself and my husband equals little time to clean and the need for extra help! Oh and the bathrooms . . . yeah, they need some help too.

I’ve got toddlers. It’s more, like, what wouldn’t I clean with it? I’d start with getting stickers off the bathtub tile, though. Curse that dentist; who slips a three-year-old a box of stickers, anyhow?

I would use the SteamMachine Plus to clean my floors, stovetop, counter tops and tub.

This method did not work and all it did was ruin my microfiber cloth.
