A Boy Mom’s Best Friend {HomeRight SteamMachine Plus Giveaway}

by Lindsay Ballard on March 25, 2015

Today, we are going to talk about something that all boy moms across the universe understand – little boy’s bathrooms.  Even after you are finished with the potty training years, boy’s bathrooms need a certain kind of attention.

Warning: It’s about to get real around here.  So, if you don’t want to read real talk, you might want to just scroll down to the giveaway.

A Boy Mom's Best Friend - win a HomeRight SteamMachine Plus

You know that part of the toilet?  Yeah, I didn’t really even know it existed until I had a son.  Now, it’s one of the most cleaned parts of my bathroom.  Somehow, that’s where it all goes when boys “miss.”  Over the past few months, I’ve had three other boys at my house on a weekly basis, and I realized that it wasn’t just a Zack problem.  It’s gross, but there’s not much that we can do about it except clean it, right?

I have started using my HomeRight SteamMachine Plus to tackle that area.  The steam breaks up the “dirt” so that it can be more easily wiped up.

A Boy Mom's Best Friend - win a HomeRight SteamMachine Plus

I generally steam the area around the base of a toilet with the handheld portion of the unit, and then I wipe it up with a paper towel.  Then, I steam and wipe again.  It’s enough to clean and disinfect the area so that I don’t have to use a chemical spray in the bathroom (which usually makes me feel like I’m choking).

The SteamMachine Plus is one of the tools that we use the most on house cleaning days.  We use it for tile floors, counter tops, the shower door, and for bathrooms.  I don’t know how I lived without it!  And now, HomeRight is giving one away to a lucky Makely reader!

A Boy Mom's Best Friend - win a HomeRight SteamMachine Plus

To enter, tell me in the comments how you would use the SteamMachine Plus if you won!  This sweepstakes is open through March 31st and a winner will be randomly selected.  Open to US Residents, ages 18 and up.  Good luck!

As a happy HomeRight Ambassador, this is a sponsored post.

    Howdy!

The man and I have four cats plus two foster fails. Needless to say, we have messy floors often due to spilling cat food, splashed water, naughty kitty accidents, and scared kitty accidents (one of our cats runs when she’s scared, and sometimes even gets scared shitless, marking her path with little nuggets. Needless to day, I use a lot of hot water and disinfectant, and a proper steamer would help with the trail of lil steamers!!

I would also use it for regular stuff, too… Like showers and whatnot 😀

    Pick me!!!

I would give it to my husband as a gift. He has been waiting one of these for some time, searching the web endlessly, traveling from store to store pricing out this steam cleaner. You see, he installed new wood floors in four rooms of our home. He wants to use this to care and clean them, so they’ll last for the rest of our lives. He’s so good to me. I hope we win

  40. Renae Reis says

    March 26, 2015 at 8:27 am

Oh my gosh, I realize that I have only two boys, and their dad, but we could totally use this! One of my kids (and I’m not even sure which one to be honest) doesn’t put the lid UP when he goes and I’m pretty sure there is also no aiming involved when using the loo. It’s gross and I always steer people away from this particular bathroom because you never know what state it will be found in!! This would be awesome to win!

  41. Erika says

    March 26, 2015 at 8:30 am

OH this is the grossest part of the bathroom! My boys “miss” also. They always try to pin the blame on me. To which I said that is physically impossible! haha

  42. Kari says

    March 26, 2015 at 8:32 am

I would definitely use it in our bathrooms. Our tile could use a good cleaning and my two youngest boys (teenagers) share a bathroom so I don’t need to say anymore about that , LOL!

  43. Tami L says

    March 26, 2015 at 8:40 am

I have to be honest. We have an older steamer that is on wheels and I have to lug around AND storage is a pain! I too use mine in the bathroom more than anywhere else, but the best part is on my wood floors. Love, love, love how easy and safe it is. Unfortunately, I need to switch out the attachment and then put on a cloth on the attachment, before I can actually start to clean my floors. The worst part is removing that nasty cloth. Yuck, yuck, YUCK! So, a new, mobile friendly, and easy to use steamer would be greatly appreciated. Fingers crossed!

  44. Lolly says

    March 26, 2015 at 9:04 am

I would love to have one of these! I have an immune compromised teen son- a cancer survivor, and anything I can do to keep the house sparkling clean makes us feel safe! I have tile and hardwood everywhere- and I also recently saw a tutorial about how it can be used to clean the inside of the fridge and oven doors!

  45. Patricia C says

    March 26, 2015 at 9:31 am

  46. Claudia M says

    March 26, 2015 at 9:36 am

  57. Patti Brennan says

    March 26, 2015 at 1:53 pm

I wish I could say that the bathroom mess gets better as boys get older, but unfortunately, once you train them to be neater in there, they find other hard-to-clean places to get yucky (mostly in the kitchen around the refrigerator!) This would be such a help in keeping the house neat and clean!

  58. Heather says

We have some aiming issues around my house as well, but more importantly than that…we had a local flooring store replace all of our carpet with a beautiful wood laminate that we thought to be better environmentally. Unfortunately, it is so hard to keep clean looking and I think a steam cleaner would help to clean better. Thanks for putting my name in the hat!!

  88. Sue Peacock says

    March 29, 2015 at 12:00 pm

My fiancé and I just bought a home that we’re preparing to move into with our brood (2 kids, a bird, a dog, a cat and a hamster). I’ll be polite to the previous owners and just say that the house is in need of some serious deep cleaning before we can move in. I converted to green cleaning mostly because of my lovebird companion of 13 years. I now have to convert my fiancé and new step-brood. I would use this just about everywhere to help restore our new home to its former glory and bring a breath of fresh air and cleanliness between those walls. Oh, and a little birdie tells me this would be especially awesome for cleaning her cage and the little surprises she leaves behind when she chases the doggie around the living room.
By the way Lindsey, the big boys seem to have the same issue although their aim may improve a bit with age 😉

  93. Annette says

    March 30, 2015 at 11:48 pm

  94. Brianna says

    March 31, 2015 at 12:38 pm
