Whenever someone asks me for paint color advice, I always have the same reply: Pick the one that you are immediately drawn to. Paint it on the wall. Live with it for a few weeks. If you don’t love it after those few weeks, then you need to pick another color.
Well, I recently had to take my own advice. I’ve lived with this crazy yellow wall for a few weeks. It was perfect on the swatch. Perfect on the sample that I painted. But on the whole wall? Negatory. It was blinding.
So, I picked a few more yellows to try out. I lived with those samples for a few days. I hated them, too. Yellow was out.
I knew that when I painted the wall bright yellow, I was taking a risk. And risks in decorating are risks worth taking – even if it doesn’t work out in the end.
I yet again grabbed my HomeRight EZ Twist Paint Stick (Amazon affiliate link) and yet another can containing a risky color of paint. It took me an afternoon of rolling, but I immediately knew that this had risk paid off….
