{31 Days to an Eclectic Home} Day 6 – Positively {Im}perfect Pillows

by Lindsay Ballard on October 6, 2011 12 Comments

Today is Day 6 of a 31 day series on creating and cultivating an eclectic home.  For some crazy reason, I have accepted The Nester’s challenge to write on the same theme every day for the month of October.  This may end up killing me.  Or you.  But, I appreciate you reading and welcome your comments.

One of the easiest ways to add a quick eclectic vibe to a room is through mismatched pillows.  Pile them on a bed, sofa, or even in the corner of a room.  The only rule you should follow is that they must not match.  Throw those perfectly matched pillow pairs out the window (or make new covers for them) and let each pillow speak for itself.

Which room in your home could use a positively {im}perfect collection of eclectic pillows?

Love this idea! My matching living room throw pillows needs some non-matching covers I think! Thanks for the inspiration!

Does it count if one blue pillow is stained with Cheetos dust and the other with Chocolate? Once my kids are a little older I will fully embrace awesome pillows, but for now they are just an extension of the toy bin. 🙂
Thanks so much for this series, I’m really enjoying your posts!

Ha! That totally counts. My dirty little secret is that I currently have NO pillows on my sofas because my kids/husband just toss them on the floor. It wears me out.

I’m loving this series. You are making me appreciate my mismatched, hodge podge of furniture and see it in a whole new light. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

I’m sorry, those pillows totally match. Coordinated color scheme = match. Not clashing = matching.

Oh no – you are really not going to like my post coming up later this month on matching vs. coordinating! 🙂

I love mixing-up pillows! I have some coordinating, but not matching, pillows in my living room. I love them! I have one solid brown, one blue and white patterned one, two yellow and white patterned ones, and one brown and blue. My couch is tan and the pillows tie in to the other decor in the room.

I’d love to do the same thing in my bedroom, but I don’t make the bed up every day with the euro shams I have now. I think they would just sit on the floor most of the time. Unless I find an awesome love seat…

Those retro mirrors are to die for! Would love to fix something like that up above my bed. Fabulous find!

Ha! Yes, that’s right. Well, kind of. For this 31 day series, I have a list of things I want to write about. It keeps me from staring blankly at my screen or getting lost in Pinterest instead of writing each night. I don’t have anything written in advance, because I’m just not with it enough for that. 🙂

Hi-Love your eclectic style and would like to pin it. I’m not on Pinterest and am wondering if I might obtain an invite? So many great ideas here! Thank you, Kris
