Today is Day 17 of a 31 day series on creating and cultivating an eclectic home. For some crazy reason, I have accepted The Nester’s challenge to write on the same theme every day for the month of October. This may end up killing me. Or you. But, I appreciate you reading and welcome your comments.
A few years ago, my mother-in-law passed along to Zack a sweet pottery set that was given to her when her son (my husband) was born. We reserve it for special occasions (and cookies), because it’s a set from the line of a classic American potter – M.A. Hadley.
If you don’t own any Hadley Pottery yourself, I’m certain that you have seen it and it’s signature “Hadley Blue” stripe. Each piece has a uniquely traditional vibe, and it is some of the highest quality dishware we own. This set is very special to us since it was a baby gift for my husband, but we can’t help but want to use Zack’s favorite little bowl when we have the opportunity.
So, imagine my delight when the folks at Hadley contacted me out of the blue and offered a few pieces for me to give away on Living With Lindsay. Their pieces are perfect for those of you who have identified your one of eclectic styles as traditional, country, cottage and even coastal. Not only is it wonderful dishware, but it’s perfect for displaying in your kitchen, breakfast room or dining room. I just knew that you would be delighted by these pieces, too.
Hadley also sent me a new piece to add to our collection. This Thanksgiving, we will be serving some of our meal on the new Let Us Give Thanks platter.
Featuring the iconic M.A. Hadley signature (the company was formed by artist Mary Alice Hadley in 1940), this handmade piece is 13″ in diameter and weighs nearly 4 pounds. I’m not lying when I say that it is of the highest quality.
Although Mary Alice Hadley passed away in 1965, the creative inspiration she brought to the ware still lives on through the pieces that bear her name. Hadley Pottery is made by hand in Kentucky from clay trucked in from Indiana, just as it had been when Mary Alice headed the company.
Collectors around the world are jumping at the chance to have the new for 2011 Let Us Give Thanks platter. But, I won’t make you jump to have it.
Hadley Pottery is giving away two pieces – the Let Us Give Thanks platter and the sweet All Gone children’s bowl. To enter, just simply leave a comment below telling me which of the two pieces you would like to win. Entries will be excepted through Thursday, October 21st and two winners will be selected at random.
Good luck!

Hi, I was only going to tell you that it is so touching to keep this kind of memories, tangible ones!, about your husband’s childhood but since you gave us this great opportunity to have a Handley piece I would also want to participate. I don’t know if this is open for overseas followers but anyway I would love to have the bowl!!
All the best from Lugo (little roman city in North Spain, very far away from everywhere!!)

I was surprised at the emotions the All Gone bowl brought from me. A year ago this fall my mom passed away from cancer. When I was taking care of her in the final months I was constantly trying to get her to eat, but she ate barely a bite or two. It finally became a game where when she did finish, we would both smile and say “All Gone!” Now this fall I am looking forward to a new woman into the family, my granddaughter is due to arrive any day now. I would love to have the All Gone bowl for her and share with her stories of her great grandmother, including “All Gone!”

The “Give Thanks” platter would be a lovely reminder to give thanks each day for the things for which we are grateful…but I must add the “All Gone” reminds me of my now 32 year old son when he was just a wee little one waving his hands back and forth, saying in his (then!) sweet little boy voice, “aw gone.” Geez, he was cute! (Still is…but a toddler carves out a special spot in the heart…)

I love the pottery but do not own any. The give thanks platter is great and I know my youngest son would get a kick out of the “all gone” bowl. He loves to get to the bottom of the bowl. =)
Thank you for the opportunity to enter!

Wow! I would be so honored to own the “Let us give Thanks” platter! I have always admired and secretly dreamed of owning some M. A. Hadley pottery. “Let us Give Thanks” really personifies where I am right now. Have you ever been brought to your knees by God? That’s where I am. He has shown me how icky my heart is; how ugly I can be. You know…the things you can think inside your head, sly remarks, jilted attitudes, ungracious replies…Wow…where did all of this come from? And then God reveals to me the inner Voice of His Love. He’s taking me by my hand and leading me through the Anguish to Freedom, Joy, and Peace. I’m so thankful to be experiencing this time in my life right now, however painful it is. God has been so good to me!
