Jumpstart June {Week 1 Check-In}

by Lindsay Ballard on June 9, 2014 12 Comments

We’re one week into the month of June, so that means it’s time for our first Jumpstart June check-in!

Jumpstart June: Pick one project that you want to get finished this month and get it done!

My project – the Mary Blair inspired feature wall – is coming along beautifully. It’s been slow and steady, but I am making progress. If you remember, this is what it looked like last week:

And here it is now:

It doesn’t look like a ton of progress, but so I’m happy with what I was able to accomplish last week. This entire wall is being painted by hand with artists paint brushes, ranging in size from 1″ down to 1/4″. Each color requires two coats, and I have to wait until one block is dry before I can move on to the next so that it doesn’t smear. Combine that with the fact that I really only had 2 days to work on it this week due to getting the house ready for the Summer Tour and being up at my son’s school for his year end party, and you’ll see why I’m thrilled with how far it has come!

I’ll have a lot more time this week, so I hope to have a lot more progress to show off next week.

Now, it’s your turn! How is your Jumpstart June project going? Are you happy with your progress? Tell us about it in the comments!

And if you didn’t choose a project last week, you are welcome to pick one now. It’s never too late to have a goal!

    Um… yesterday I stared at the materials for my project while I was doing laundry and wondered how I would find the time to get it done with this month being crazy and my dining room table being covered in baseboard that needs to be put up. Does that count? 🙂

    The wall looks FANTASTIC, by the way!

      You know what? You have the materials AND you considered the project. I call that progress! LOL!

    Here’s my June project: “One thing I’ve already started that I will commit to finishing by the end of June is purging, decluttering, and organizing my office/craft room. Furniture rearranging, etc. may come later, but first I have to continue to work on getting it cleaned up so I can walk in there!”

    I did a big fat nothing on that particular project last week. I really want to make big progress THIS week before our new puppy comes on Saturday. Then maybe for the remainder of June I can start working on hanging art, new storage solutions, etc. xo

    “Jumpstart June” ~ what a great idea! I love your project and look forward to watching it proceed throughout the month. I’ve been working on re-doing our main bathroom, and I’m trying to finish up the last few projects now. Sometimes the final things seem to take so long! So, perhaps I should set my goal to have it all finished by the end of the month. Thanks for the motivation!:)

    Well, I came home from visiting family out of state for two weeks on Saturday. So I am physically closer to my room that will be getting organized. Is that progress? 🙂

    I purchased wood for my new deck stair treads. We had a very busy weekend, we hosted a multi-family yard sale. This weekend promises sunshine, so I am aiming to start staining vertical surfaces.
