This Morning

by Lindsay Ballard on April 19, 2011 8 Comments

This morning I go

to register my baby

for Kindergarten.

How did that happen? In a few weeks, he’ll take cap and gown pictures at his preschool and participate in a graduation ceremony.  And I will cry.  A lot.

Do you have any words of advice to get me through it? Other than bring plenty of tissues, of course.

Tissues are a good idea. I thought Io would bawl my eyes out when each of my “babies” (now 7 & 9) went from preschool to kindergarten but when I saw them walking in thier cap and gown with those PROUD smiles I was SO HAPPY for them
(I cried, but I was more HAPPY than SAD)

    You will be too……………
Time flies when your having fun………………My oldest only has 1 more year in grade school (NOW THAT’S traumatizing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Good luck and congrats on the NEW KINDERGARDENER!

Well, you could be me… my daughter is graduating preschool and I’m pregnant, so as if I’m not already emotional enough, I’m going to look like a fool! 🙂 Have fun and enjoy his happy, proud moment!

Yes lots of tissues. And a video camera. I went through that last year and now he is about to finish kindergarten. Sigh.

Oh. my. gosh. Lindsay, you are killing me. My oldest graduates preschool in May too, and I hadn’t really thought much about it b/c she’ll be attending the same place for kindergarten (it’s a local church preschool that goes up to kindergarten). Now, I am flipping out. My youngest will be starting preschool 2 days a week in the Fall. When I drop them off together for the first time, I am going to lose it. Thanks for making me a basketcase for the summer. 😉 😉

Well, my BABY graduates from high school next month and I’ll have three in college! I was always excited for each new step though. Each new stage in school was like watching my child learn to walk. you get excited for them to take that step even though you fear they will fall down. I never felt sad over sending them to school or other big steps in life. It was fun to see them grow and learn and progress through each stage. Truth be told, the scariest stage is watching them walk out of the house to be grown ups. You don’t get to hold their hands anymore or keep them from tottering. You hold your breath and be proud of them. Going to kindergarten is a big step but an exciting one.

Girl, I know how you are feeling, but for me my baby is graduating from high school and it seems like yesterday he was in kindergarten….just enjoy these times to the fullest…they grow up SO fast it just goes by in the blink of an eye…my mother told me it would and she was so right!

I wish mine were still little!

Hope it went well this AM for you. I had a harder time when my oldest graduated from 5th grade because I THOUGHT that my elementary school days were over – ha ha – little did I know that I’d be doing it again….For me the same year my oldest starts college, my baby will start kindergarten – not sure if I’ll be happy or sad….probably a bit of both!
