Have you ever found an item that you just knew you HAD to have because you were going to transform it into something fabulous? And then, you get it home and stare at it for, oh, a year, and still don’t know what to do with it?
Yeah, welcome to the club.
Please join me over at The Country Chic Cottage today where I describe my item and get your advice on what I should do with it. I’m stumped and I know you guys are creative geniuses. Angie has a great series going where you can present a random item, such as my iron thingy-ma-bob, and get feedback from the readers about what you could do with it. After I get your advice, I’ll show you how I end up transforming it.
So, head on over to The Country Chic Cottage, and give me your brilliant ideas. I’m counting on you!
My suggestion is to use it for Forks, Knives, and Spoons. You could paint foam core black and hot glue it in or use burlap fabric and fabric stiffiner to mold it in and hang over on the sides like you do with wrapping pots. Tie the top off with lots of twine and you have a picnic worthy carrying caddy.
I have something similar, that I would like to do this too but I would paint it black on tin with chalkboard paint.
Good luck.
Do you have a guest bedroom or bathroom? You could put a rolled up towel set along with some toiletries (pretty ones of course).
Couple of ideas-
– use it to carry potted herb plants from the garden into your kitchen – I have something similar (put potted herb plants in it and when I want to use the herbs I bring it in, cut the herbs and send it back outside for the sunshine)
– use it in the kitchen to store your botttled olive oils, vinegars etc.
– could also use it to store soap and lotion bottles side by side.
– put old glassware in it and use one to store pens, pencils etc. and the other to hold you scissors and other like objects.
Have fun with it.

I thought of towels, too. You could even drape a pretty hand towel over that little bar. Or, if you could find a little basket or fashion a liner that would fit, it looks like you could hang it on the wall- maybe by the back door- to drop mail or keys into.
It would be very pretty with small,er vintage milk bottles used as flower vases. A great centerpiece and don’t forget to add vintage hang tags!
YOu can make a small wood sign that hangs down, or on the front that says US MAIL and put your mail in it!…just a thought!
paint some small clay pots (3? maybe) stick em’ in there with planted flowers for your outdoors…
Girl, I feel your pain. Happens to me almost every day. I tweak and repurpose until I make myself sick. I say you you put 3 of those white milk bottle thingies in there with those black numbers stenciled on them and a flower on a stem coming out of each one. But what do I know.
Ha!

I tried to post on The Shabby Chic Cottage, and it wasn’t allowing me. Sorry! My ideas are similar to others, but I love having a container next to the rocker in my daughter’s room. Hang a cute monogrammed burp cloth from the back; put feeding or other essentials in it, at first; or just have a way to contain easily accessible books for before bed/nap time, when she is a little older. Another idea is to keep it next to your kitchen sink with a hand towel hanging and hand soap, dish soap, and lotion in the bottom. Maybe not the most creative ideas but ideas none the less! 🙂
Put three small square vases in it and plant herbs 🙂
Hmm, how about a spice rack? A planter box with your address hanging in the front? Or mail holder/key holder?
I can see it with really colorful pots and planted ferns trailing down. One of my other thoughts was a doorstop. Probably too bulky for that, but if not, you could cover used up kitchen canisters all pretty & put…….well…..ok ~ maybe a dumb idea. What about on a wall as a pseudo book shelf? Is it wide enough to put some vintage books in it along with something like Kim recommended? Maybe just a vine of a philodendron in each bottle. Those things will grow anywhere. Let us know what the outcome is!
Looks like it’s perfect for mail or flowers. I have a few of those thingy-ma-bobs lying around, too 🙂
Love the towel idea…..After a hard week, spending a relaxing hour of blog hopping.
So glad I stopped by your blog. Happy Easter

I’m thinking napkin holder for the kitchen.
I found this online while searching for something else and thought of you instantly. I hope this link works. (I’m copying and pasting from my phone.). http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_NAuQy18x9no/SRkI1I1g3xI/AAAAAAAAANI/8LLEuwxGHcM/s320/Jamestown+Centerpiece+Bath+stuff.JPG
If you have any available wall space in your shower or bath area you could coat it against moisture and keep shampoo/conditioner/bodywash bottles in it. Bath poofs could also hang from the curly-q’s.
I am jealous. I have been watching for a similar shaped thing a ma bobby in any material to store my coffee flavoring bottles on the counter with my coffeemaker.
It would also be cute with canning jars nestled inside with plants or lavender or herbs.
You could buy square shaped candles that are in the glass and out 3 in there and hang it on the wall in the living room or the hallway!:)
Just want to point out I am just happy that i came on the website page!.
