Today’s Feature Wall Friday presents something every busy family needs – a calendar feature wall.
Not only is this feature wall (found at House to Home) fun to look at, but it’s extremely helpful, too. As my kids are getting older, I’ve realized how nice it would be to have our entire month laid out in front of us on a large scale. No more excuses for forgetting events or acting like you were never told (I’m looking at you, Tom).
This one was created by painting the entire wall with chalkboard paint. When it was dry, they taped off the square grid and painted the squares in varying shades of gray. The designer used this technique to create the varying shades of gray, but you could always use tintable chalkboard paint (found at home improvement and paint stores) to have a brighter calendar.
What do you think? Could your family use a giant calendar to keep you on track as the school year gets going?
Excellent idea! If like me you are a renter, you could also do it on a large piece of canvas or plywood so that you wouldn’t get screamed at by the landlord… 🙂
That is awesome! I’ve considered doing one of these in m house, I’m just not quite sure where I’d put it…
great idea!!! i’ve never thought using a blackboard paint like that before! another use similar to that is for the kitchen wall/ cupboards for the weekly menu!!!
This such a great idea! Love the calendar idea!
I adore this idea! However, I remember having issues with chalk and boards when I was a kid, due to my asthma, and I wonder if it would affect me again. Otherwise I adore all these blackboard paint ideas.
