Today’s edition of Feature Wall Friday is all about stained pine plywood panels. I first fell in love with this look when I ran across this image online.
The styling of the entire room is spot on, but I’m really crushing on the blue stained plywood wall. Imagine my surprise when I found out that it was actually wallpaper!
This would be easy to recreate as actual paneling, though. I think you’d need to use pine plywood, since stain gets into the grain in such a way that you’d have some colored portions and some negative portions as well (obviously, test it on a little piece first).
Lowe’s offers instructions for staining and creating a similar wall, but their wall features small plywood squares instead of one large piece. It’s a nice look, too.
Minwax offers a nice selection of colors in their Water Based Stain, and I’d probably go that route if I were to give this a go. I think a bright color would give this sort of wall an edge that a more neutral tone doesn’t provide.
Could you rock a stained plywood wall? What color stain would you choose?
How does one end up on feature wall friday? I just finished a seriously cool wall last night that I think you and your readers will LOVE!
Love the blue! I’d do wall paper but I don’t like putting wood on the walls. I think it’s a childhood nightmare 😉
Great idea! How about a chevron pattern using different wood stain tones?
That is so unique! I love the blue, it’s so beautiful!
