Yesterday was one of those days that every project I touched turned into mush. I couldn’t sand, I couldn’t glue, I couldn’t paint. Nothing turned out. Don’t you just hate days like that?
Inspire Me: An Impromptu Linky Party
I woke up this morning feeling uninspired. Perhaps it’s because of yesterdays failures. Maybe it’s because it’s so COLD outside right now (y’all, it’s 30 degrees. I’m sure you Northerners are laughing at me, but this is torture for a Texas girl!). Maybe it’s because my mother is staying with me this week after what was supposed to be a quick weekend trip turned into her needing an emergency appendectomy last Saturday morning, and I’d rather visit with her than do projects (She’s fine, by the way, but what a scare! We made her stay here for the week instead of flying back to Tennessee with my dad as a precaution). Whatever it is, I just don’t have my creative juices flowing.
The only thing that’s flowing right now is the Dunkin’ Donuts coffee.
So, I need your help. I need YOU to inspire ME. I don’t have a fancy graphic (or any graphic) or lots of advance notice to give (or any notice, really), but I decided to have an impromptu linky party where you can share with me your most inspired post. It can be your favorite project, a funny story, a moving message. It can be some of your favorite photos from magazines or just pictures of your dog. It can be from deep within your archives. Whatever you choose, just inspire me.
All you have to do is link your post below. Be sure you link the permalink of your actual blog post (click on the title of the post and use the address that comes up in your browser. For example, it’ll be something like www.MyBlogRocks.com/2009/08/Inspire instead of just www.MyBlogRocks.com). Then, be sure to click around to everyone else’s posts to get some inspiration yourself. If you want to edit your post and tell your readers than you are linking up to Living With Lindsay, it would make my day. If not, that’s fine, too. I’ll leave the linky up through the weekend so everyone will have time to participate.
If you don’t have a blog, just leave an inspiring comment for all of us!
Let’s see if we can thaw my creative juices and get them flowing again. I’m counting on you! Do you feel the pressure? 🙂
Thanks for the linky party! You don't always have to be inspired. Sometimes, you can have a break.
Hi there, Lindsay. Those of us in Dallas are pretty cold, too. 🙁
Anyway, I enjoy reading your blog for inspiration and a giggle now and again. I've linked up two of my posts (from a few months ago) to brighten your day. One is of our long-awaited housewarming party and the other is the tale of a too-effective saleswoman…and the aftermath at home. 😉
Have a great day!
Oh Lindsay me too!! Crazy and uninspiring week, that is. I hope your mom is recovering nicely and i know you're enjoying the extra time! I did manage to get my front door done—and pumpkins removed as well! Blessings to you and yours,
edie
I feel ya on the cold weather. It was 19 degrees here in DFW this morning! I'm such a cold-weather weenie! 🙂
You! In a funk! No way! you are so creative and must be having an off moment. Maybe you need a warm bath with floating candles and lavender scent bubble bath!
What a fun party- It will be interesting to see what people choose to post without any notice :).
I'm sure that inspiration will come back in no time!
what a fun idea! i am going to go digging and add something.
all you linky party peeps are awesome. i just know if i had a link party no one would show up then i'd have to go cry in a corner.
see? i'm so lame i broke the mclinky. i came back and it's gone. boo hoo.
Ah, I've been having a month like that where nothing seems to work. I've had to get creative with my failures 🙂 I linked up two recent posts of my holiday crafting/decorating…sharing the triumps and failures!
Glad to hear your mama is ok, and how great that she can heal at your place. peace to you…
I do hate it when you can't think of anything creative to do! You always have such great ideas so I'm sure the juices will flow in no time.
Blessings,
Alisa
Oh, Lindsay, I feel ya, girl! I've had a hard time even finding the extra TIME this month to sit down and work on projects. The house is mess, and I've totally been taking pictures AROUND the mess for the blog. 😉 😉
I love your blog..thanks for the great tutorials! I am going to try the botique tassel soon.
Man, I'm having one of those days too! Kind of. I'm actually still feeling quite inspired, however, I just keep getting knocked down at everything I'm doing! EX: locked myself out of my house this morning…with my Son inside…and daycare kids on the way! Then, forgot about said Son's secret Santa gift he needed at school…today! My super cute apron I spent all day yesterday making…ruined it with fray check! Um, yeah. Now I need to redo yesterday, but today is NOT helping me move forward! So, I feel for you…I really do! Great idea to pull yourself out of a funk!

First – very glad your mom is okay! Enjoy your time with her today. Second – totally can relate to that uninspired feeling – hate it, but have had it more than I care to. Third – thanks for hosting the Linky party! You're naturally creative, so I'm sure this will be just the thing you need to get rolling again. Have a great day!
Hi Lindsay,
I woke up this morning and the temp. was 1. Yes, 1 degree! I will trade you!!!
Lindsey, I posted that link not because it was anything special, but because the first time I did it, I had to tear out the ribbon on the whole side of the bag and I was having a day like yours. Then I regrouped and it turned out great!

Hi Lindsay…. I've so had those days/weeks ! I know how you feel. Glad to read your mom is OK. Your creative juices will never stop flowing, they're just on drip for a day or two, but I have no worries whatsoever that you will continue to WOW us with your talents. Feel better !
Kate
What a GREAT idea! Love this impromptu linky!!!
Hi Lindsay, I kind of stumbled upon your blog and really like what I see. This Link party is such a neat idea. Today we had one of these rain-all-day days here and I felt like you – uninspired and lazy. Usually I just get on the phone and have a chat with my best friend. That always cheers me up. She was just not available today. And then your blog post came along. Thanks for sharing.
Will be back for sure. Hello from the centre of Germany
There are many great messages in these inspirational links! What a great idea… thank you!
I've been making Christmas pillow cases for my grandchildren. It takes about an hour and not much cotton fabric. If you are interested in directions email me at dotsonjudy@aol.com.
Lindsay,
I think we all have those days, weeks and sometimes months.I think when we think to much, try to be to creative, feel to much pressure it happens. When this happens to me I have to step outside the box of decorating, do something that makes me happy else where and remember why I love to create things in the first place. I hope your Linky party helped and creative juices are flowing once again. Happy Holidays!!
You're having a tough week! But I'm glad to hear you're taking good care of your mom and are giving your readers a chance to inspire YOU for a change!
I posted a ball wreath tutorial Monday and already my sister & 2 friends have told me they're making ball wreaths this weekend. I thought if the posting inspired them, then it might inspire you too. Here's the link:

jensdailyjoys.blogspot.com I would encourage you to read "Perfection to be Beautiful"…the last blog I did. It doesn't have to be perfect to be beautiful! 🙂
I love your links and have so much fun looking at all the wonderful inspirational projects! Thank you for putting it all together!
