Pink or Blue? What Say You?

by Lindsay Ballard on March 5, 2010 53 Comments

Tomorrow, our little family is going to find out who will be joining us at the end of August. I am absolutely the most impatient person on Earth, so we are finding out now if Zack will be having a Baby Brother or a Baby Sister.

As with any mother-to-be, I’m desperate to find out the gender of the new baby. I’ve taken every Old Wives’ Tale test, lunar calendar calculator, and product I can pee on in an effort to have an early guess. Here’s what those tests have told me:

My intuition – Boy
Intelligender test – Girl
Red Cabbage test – Boy
Old Wives’ Tale tests – Girl
Chinese Lunar Calendar – Girl
Moon Sign (Aires) – Boy
Conception Timing (Shettles Method) – Boy

Yes, I’m insane. The results are pretty mixed, though. I’m still guessing we’ll be on Team Blue again.

What do you think? Pink or blue? What say you?

Team Blue! Then again, I have three boys, so I might be just a little biased! 😉 My intuition was always dead on…Congratulations on your pregnancy.

When I had my son, my intuition was wrong and the Chinese Lunar Calendar was right. So I'm going to guess PINK is in your future! Congrats either way!

My guess is girl only because the Chinese Lunar worked for both of my kids. Isn't that scientific? How exciting! Can't wait to hear.

Gotta go with Mom's intuition on this one! I knew I was having a boy way before my ultrasound, but convinced myself there was no way I COULD know. I'm a firm believer now!

Whoever it is, it will be somebody fun!!! We strung out the anticipation and waited till the birthday to find out with both our little ones. That was GREAT, and I highly recommend it – if you can! Ours are 3 and 1 now. But since you're "peeking," share the news! 🙂

Hmmm, I'll go with Intelligender and say Girl.

With me it was a yeast infection with the 2 girls, and 20 weeks of nausea with the 4 boys. Which would you prefer?

No matter what I bet you have decorating ideas for both. Which way do you lean on the decorating end? My first three were boys and my fourth was a girl. I loved making her curtains more than anything cause I got to use pink, hot pink, green, and lime green. It was more vibrant than my boys rooms.

    Congrats either way.

Well, I don't know, but I hope it's a girl. Boys are awesome, and I adore my baby boy. It's pretty straightforward- boys love their mommas. BUT, it is an entirely different relationship with a daughter. You will never see yourself more clearly than reflected in your daughter, and yet she'll be so different. It's more complex. Plus, the clothes are just so much more fun! Either way, congratulations! Babies are truly a gift from God!

This Chinese calender was correct for everybody know. The explanation is Norwegian, but it's so simple – you'll get it if you want to see! Obviously the blue squares mean boys and the pink mean girl. What you do is you find you age at the time of conception on in the vertical line and then the month of conception in the horizontal line, where they meet youlll find the answer 🙂

My gut said I was having a girl and I was right. 🙂 SO excited for you guys!!! Being preggo is fun right now because I'm over the sickness and looking very pregnant but not feeling achy yet. When my husband and I were first married, we continued to use his Philipino house cleaners. When I found out I was pregnant, the guy cleaner told me, "You are definitely pregnant with a boy. Women glow when they are pregnant with a girl."

Nice, eh? And he was right. I was prego with a boy.

So, are you glowing or not???? ;o)

I KNEW which one I was pregnant with both times (and we looked on the ultrasound). But it didn't work that way for my best friend. I was convinced she was having a boy (and so was she). It was a huge shock when she had a girl (they chose to be surprised at the birth). Like not a good shock … that's how much we were both CONVINCED it was boy. Oh well.
