Somewhere along the way, I became obsessed with color. I haven’t been able to place my finger on exactly when it happened, but it’s almost like a switch in my brain got flipped and then the breaker short circuited. In a world of neutral, non-offensive color combinations, I find a little risk taking in my color choices thrilling. Finding the best paint colors for a room is like a treasure hunt to me.
I am frequently asked for the specific names of the colors I’ve used in my home, so I’ve put together this listing of my color choices. I’m working through my blah blah builder’s beige home a room at a time, so I will link this page in my sidebar and update it as I complete each room. I’ve also included links to the projects I’ve written about in each room.

* Lindsay White is my own made up formulation of the brightest, clearest white ever. I grab 1 gallon of Glidden white base paint off the shelf at Home Depot and ask the paint counter folks to add in 1 oz of white pigment.
So I have to admit, when you said you love to paint with color, I thought it wouldn’t be for me…but your color choices and the way you use them are totally for me! I love all of them! Now I just need you to come paint my house….
Ha! So, I DID scare you with my color talk! 🙂
Just in regards to your paint, not your wardrobe! 😉
Love all these colors! It’s quite similar to our home colors.. which I get a lot of weird looks for when I say it’s blue, purple, gray, then end. Nothing like adding color in a neutral world, right? I think we could be design twins. 😀
Ha! That’s funny! Yeah, color rocks.
This is such a great paint tour coupled with projects from each room. I feel the need to update my paint post: http://www.dejongdreamhouse.com/2013/02/paint-tour.html.
Great colors, Jen!
I love the stenciled wall on the bathroom. My favorite color is red, so my old house was decorated in Chinese red, cream, and black. In my new house, the walls are painted light olive and khaki and I have dark blonde hardwood floors. The red, black and cream still fits in…but not nearly as comfortably. The rest of my family would prefer to live in your blue house!
LOL! I’m really drawn to blue, but I love it in combination with red. I’ve noticed that I do a lot of twists on primary colors so nothing feels like a preschool.
I’m one of those people who decorates with neutrals and “safe” colors only– very muted! It’s amazing to me that just scanning through the thumbnails, I love the rooms with bold color much more than the nursery. I think reading your blog is inspiring me! Now if I could only be brave enough to actually USE a bolder color….
Music to my ears! You can do it!
For what it’s worth, I’m so ready to change the nursery over from a baby room to her “big girl” room. I’ll probably leave the wall paint the same, but look for bright furniture. I’ve been dreaming of a green antique 4 poster bed to go in there.
I have a question, I see you use your “Lindsay white” on walls and ceilings, do you change the type of paint? Eggshell or flat?
Hey, that’s a clever way of thninkig about it.
